Pınar Öğün is a Turkish producer, director and actress. She was born in 1984 in Ankara/ Turkey and is married to the Turkish actor Memet Ali Alabora.
She graduated from Bilkent University department of music and performing arts in Ankara and later continued her professional training in LAMDA, London. Ogun has been working as a professional actress since 2004 internationally both on stage and screen. Her big success was the TV series ‘Turkan’ for which she is well known.
In 2015 Pinar Ogun founded ‘Be Aware Productions’ to produce innovative performing and audio-visual art-works. The project’s first production called ‘Exhibit’ was her directing debut.
Meltem Arikan is a Turkish author and playwright born in 1968 in Ankara. Known for her sharp critique of society and fearless and outspoken voice in all her pieces, she has dedicated her life to writing against the patriarchal system and to supporting the fight for freedom of speech and expression. Her first novel was published in 1999, but her fourth one Yeter Tenimi Acitmayin (Stop Hurting My Flesh) grabbed everybody’s attention after it was banned in 2004. Nevertheless she managed to win the fight and not only the ban was lifted but also she was awarded the ‘Freedom of Thought and Speech Award’ in 2004. She is also a proud winner of the Lions Theatre Unique New Play Award (2007) as well as the Turkish Publishers Association’s Freedom of Statement and Idea Award (2004) and Nigde University Talebe Journal’s Best Female Writer Award (2003).
