We are delighted to find out that Wioletta Greg is on the Man Booker International Prize longlist with her novel Swallowing Mercury, about growing up in Communist Poland. It was translated by Eliza Marciniak from the original, titled Guguły (‘Unripe’), which was a best-seller in Poland.
Poet, novelist, and story-writer Wioletta Greg has lived in the UK for some ten years. She is coming to Swansea on Friday 26 May in VolcanoFridays.
The Man Booker International Prize is awarded every year for one book which has been translated into English and published in the UK. The judges considered 126 books. The ‘longlist’ or ‘Man Booker Dozen’ of 13 novels in the running for the 2017 prize was announced this week. The shortlist of six books will be announced on 20 April. The winner of the 2017 prize will be announced on 14 June.
Meet Wioletta in Swansea on Friday 26 May, together with German writer Jörg Bernig.
